Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Welcome at the airport and transfer to 20 km from Ulaanbaatar, in the vicinity of the village of Gatchuurt. Day of relaxation in a pleasant setting and presentation of your trip. Night in a yurt.

Day 2: Ulaanbaatar - Amarbayasgalant

6 hours drive
Early in the morning, departure for Ulaanbaatar where you visit the Gandantegchilen monastery. Then you head north to the Amarbayasgalant monastery, located in an exceptional setting. Night in camp.

Day 3: Amarbayasgalant - Erdenet - Uran Togoo Uul

6 hours drive
In the morning, you visit the monastery and then leave for Khuvsgul. The road is beautiful between crops and wheat fields. You reach the city of Erdenet, one of the major cities of the country composed of one of the largest open-air mines in the world. You then leave for the reserve of the Togoo Uul and Uran volcanoes where you set up camp.

Day 4: Uran Togoo Uul - Baibulag - Ikh Uul

5 hours drive
You leave in the morning for a walk to the summits of the volcanoes where you enjoy a spectacular view. On the way, you cross Bailulag and its timeless wall, recalling the power of the Uighur dynasty. You set up camp near the secret monastery of Ikh Uul, along the Selenge River.

Day 5: Ikh Uul - Khuvsgul Lake

You arrive at the splendid Khuvsgul Lake, located in a lunar landscape, surrounded by green meadows and all crowned by the highest peaks on the horizon. You leave for the valleys of Alaga Sar where you spend the night. Night in a yurt.

Day 6: Lake Khuvsgul

4 hours of walking
You leave with breeders and their yaks for a day of hiking in the valleys of Alag Sar. You can leave on foot or on horseback to discover this flowery land, dotted with edelweiss. Possibility of swimming in the lake. Night in a yurt.

Second day of exploration around this magnificent lake. Night in a yurt.

Day 8: Lake Khuvsgul - Ider Banks

5 hours drive
You leave towards the village of Khatgal along the southern shore of the lake. You continue the road to Mörön where you stop to enjoy the local market. You then continue your crossing by crossing several passes at more than 2000 meters to finally arrive near a magnificent lake, in the heart of the lunar landscapes of Mongolia. Night in camp.

Day 9: Lake Ider - Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan

6 hours drive
Long day of driving to reach the splendid lake of Terkhiin Tsagaan which is located at an altitude of 2060 meters. Nicknamed "The great white lake" and located in the Arkhangai region, it is an ideal place to recharge your batteries and meditate in the heart of nature. Installation and night in camp.

Day 10: Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan - Horgo volcano

5 hours of walking
Day of exploration around the lake and up to the Horgo volcano (2240 ​​m). Easy climb to the top of the volcano to admire the spectacular view. Camp.

Day 11: Terkhiin Tsagaan - Tsetserleg - Tsenkher Hot Springs

4/5 hours drive
You head south, into a beautiful wooded area surrounded by the Khangai Range to the west. Short stop at Tsetserleg where you can visit the Zayan Gegeen Museum. There are only about thirty kilometers left to reach the Tsenkher hot springs, where you can relax at the camp. Night in a yurt.

Day 12: Tsenkher Hot Springs - Orkhon Valley

140 km - 4 hours drive + 2 hours walk
You leave this little corner of paradise through the steppe and the magnificent canyons of the Orkhon. Leaving the main track, you arrive near the Tovkhon monastery which you can reach on foot. From the summit located at about 2300 m above sea level, you enjoy a panoramic view of the Khangai range, and the magnificent Orkhon valley. Night at a local's house.

Day 13: Orkhon Valley

3/4 hour walk or horse ride
Day exploring the Orkhon Valley and horse riding or hiking to the spectacular 16-metre high Orkhon Falls. Return to your hosts for a traditional barbecue. Overnight in a local home.

Day 14: Orkhon Valley

3/4 hour drive
You leave towards Kharkhorin, ancient capital of the Mongol empire. Visit the Erdene Zuu monastery, important historical center of Lamaism in the 16th century, known for its wall with 108 white chortens. At the exit of the city you set up camp near the river. Night in camp.

Day 15: Kharkhorin - Ongii Monastery

7 hours drive
This is a major day's drive that takes you towards the Gobi Desert. You cross the steppe to Saikhan Ovoo, an ideal place to stop halfway. You can see the ruins of two monasteries, the Barlim Monastery and the Khutagt Monastery. Visit the Ongii Lamasery, and its small museum. Night in a yurt.

Day 16: Ongii Monastery - Bayanzag Cliffs

5 hours drive
This is the last stop before arriving at the Great Gobi. Known for its three peaks nicknamed the "Three Beauties": Baruun Saïhan, "The Western Beauty"; Dund Saïhan, "The Central Beauty" and Züün Saïhan, "The Eastern Beauty". You stop near the cliffs of Bayanzag, nicknamed the "flaming cliffs", tinged with red and ochre, a mythical place populated in the past by dinosaurs. The Ulaanbaatar Natural History Museum allows you to observe some of the bones of these creatures. Night in camp.

Day 17: Bayanzag Cliffs - Khongor Els Dunes

You head west to the Khongor Els sand dunes. These are the most impressive dunes in Mongolia, measuring about 80 meters high and stretching over 180 km long and 20 km wide. From their summit, you can observe the spectacular view, in an enchanting setting. Evening and night at the locals' house.

Day 18: Khongor Els Dunes

Today, explore the Gobi Desert on camelback. The ride takes you along the Khongor River to the foot of the dunes dotted with saxaul, these famous small shrubs renowned for their valuable wood. Night at a local's house.

Day 19: Khongor Els Dunes - Yoliin Am Canyon

4h30 drive – 3/4h walk
You take the road again towards the canyon region. Walk in the gorges of the Dungdene canyon where the river turns into ice at the Yoliin am canyon. It is also an ideal place to observe the surrounding wildlife. Night at the locals' house.

Day 20: Yoliin Am Canyon - Ulaanbaatar

1 hour flight
Short transfer to Dalandzadgad for your return flight to Ulaanbaatar. Arrival and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon sightseeing. Possibility to attend a traditional Mongolian show. Overnight at the hotel.
