Day 1: Toulouse

Welcome at the end of the afternoon at the hotel in Toulouse, the pink, cosmopolitan and cultural city. The red brick is omnipresent and the city center, full of life, is full of small restaurants and music.

Day 2: Toulouse - Castelnaudary

From Toulouse, enter the rich Lauragais countryside, land of good living and eating well. Throughout this day, discover luminous landscapes, pink brick villages and Lauragais farms with their brick-set vaults. At the foot of the Montagne Noire, contemplation of the Seuil de Naurouze site, the watershed between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Distance traveled: 60 km

Day 3: Castelnaudary - Carcassone

From Castelnaudary, capital of Cassoulet, transition from brick to stone and from corn to vines. Discovery of the Moulin de Cugarel, the Grand Bassin de Villepinte, the port of Bram and the 4-vaulted aqueduct of Rebenty. In Carcassonne, visit the medieval city classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Distance traveled: 40 km

Day 4:Carcassonne - Homps - Olanzac

Crossing sumptuous plane tree arches during the progression towards the Mediterranean Sea. The canal closely follows the Aude river. Discovery of the Orbiel aqueduct, the church of Trèbes (12th and 13th century), the Argendouble spillway (surface reservoir which allows excess water from the canal to be evacuated). Distance traveled: 41 to 43 km

Day 5: Homps - Olonzac - Capestang

The route of the canal becomes more sinuous, its meanders multiply, while the landscapes light up with the appearance of vines and olive trees. Discovery of the village of Somail and its old bookstore and the village of Capestang. Distance traveled: 40 km

Day 6: Capestang - Adge-Bésiers

After the Malpas Tunnel and the Oppidum d'Ensérune, the canal seems to be looking for the direction to follow, first turning towards the north, then the east, then heading back towards the sea to the south. At the end of the afternoon, short train transfer (15 minutes) to Béziers. Discovery of the unique set of 8 locks of Fontséranes, the cathedral and the Pont Vieux in Béziers. Distance traveled: 46 km

Day 7: Béziers

End of stay after breakfast. To do more: from Carcassonne, it is possible to do two loop routes, the Cavayère lake (21 km - swimming possible in season) and/or the village of Saint-Hilaire (48 km), famous for its Benedictine abbey.
